Bread Making
When breadmaking wheat flour does not rise as well as white flour.  Adding gluten at the rate of two tablespoons per pound of flour fixes the problem.

Temperature
At -40 both Fahrenheit and Centigrade read the same.  It does not happen often here, but when it does it is just downright cold. Colloquially referred to as "Brass monkey weather"
