Tank Coils Designed for Long-Lasting Efficiency

Enerquip’s tank coils are engineered to efficiently heat, cool or regulate the temperature of large volumes of product in demanding industries like asphalt, chemicals, refining, biofuels, and more. Whether you need finned or bare coils, we design each one with durability and long-term performance in mind—because we know accessing a full tank for repairs isn’t easy.

Made from carbon steel or stainless steel, our coils feature seamless piping for reliable heat transfer that lasts for decades.

Custom Tank Coils for Heating & Cooling

Our tank coils can be built to use steam or thermal fluid, and tailored to fit a variety of tank sizes—even those with tight manways or unique specs. Coils can include pipe supports and legs for added stability.

Coil Type Options:
  • Bare pipe
  • Helically wound finned pipe
  • Longitudinal finned pipe
  • Spiral bare pipe
Material Options:
  • Schedule 40 or 80 carbon steel
  • 316L stainless steel and other high alloys
Heating or Cooling Medium Options:
  • Thermal oil
  • Steam
  • Hot or cold water

Finned Vs. Bare Pipe Tank Coils

When deciding between bare pipe and helically wound coils, several factors should be considered, including the product to be heated, fouling potential, heat load, ambient temperature, personal preference, and budget. Our team is here to guide you in selecting the best coil for your needs.

Bare Pipe Tank Coils:
  • Bare coils are ideal for heating highly viscous products, especially in cases where fouling could be a concern.
  • Stainless steel bare tank coils are suitable for use in food, beverage, and other sanitary industries.
  • For lighter heating duties, bare pipe coils typically offer a more cost-effective solution.
Finned Tank Coils:
  • Finned coils are highly efficient, providing up to 12 times more surface area than bare pipe coils.
  • The increased surface area leads to better heat transfer, meaning less pipe is needed to heat the tank—saving both time and money on installation.
  • Finned tank coils are particularly efficient for larger heating duties, where their enhanced performance really shines.

Installation Orientation:

Both helically wound and longitudinal finned coils offer excellent heat transfer and efficiency. The difference lies in installation orientation, driven by product behavior, flow characteristics, and coking potential:

  • Helically wound coils are best for horizontal installations
  • Longitudinal finned coils are preferred for vertical installations

No matter which type you choose, rest assured that all our coils are designed and built with a focus on quality and long-term durability.
