Tank Coils Designed for Long-Lasting Efficiency
Tank coils are essential components in thermal fluid heating systems, widely used across industries like asphalt, chemicals, refining, biofuels, and more. These coils help heat, cool, and regulate the temperature of tanks storing various materials.
Enerquip Finned Tank Heating Coils
Given their critical role in managing large volumes of material, tank coils must be designed for durability, reliability, and efficiency. Whether constructed from carbon steel or stainless steel, we meticulously design and fabricate both finned and bare tank coils to ensure long-lasting performance. We understand the challenges of accessing tanks filled with fluid for repairs or replacements, which is why we prioritize durability and reliability in every coil we produce.
Each tank heating coil is the result of years of design expertise and practical operational experience. Using seamless piping and solid helically wound fins, our coils are engineered for optimal performance and built to endure for decades.
Custom Tank Coils for Heating & Cooling
Our helically wound, bare pipe, and spiral tank coils can be customized to use either steam or thermal fluid as the heating or cooling medium, depending on the specific needs of your project. Since the temperature requirements for fluid or steam can vary significantly, our expert engineers are equipped to design both heating and cooling coils to meet the demands of any application.
These coils can also be tailored to fit into existing tank manways or specialized tanks, whether they are vertical or horizontal. Available in a range of thicknesses, including Schedule 40 or 80, our coils are reinforced with durable pipe supports and legs for added stability. If you have specific requirements, our engineering team is ready to collaborate with you to design a coil unique to your operation.
Tank coils can be mounted in a variety of configurations. Typically, bare pipe or helically wound finned tank coils are set horizontally on the tank floor, arranged for even heating and connected in series or parallel flow configurations. For longitudinal fins, vertical orientation is a common option – again arranged for even heating. For spiral tank coils, the coiled bare tube is arranged and mounted vertically in a spiral shape on the perimeter floor of the tank.

Helically Wound Vs. Bare Pipe Coils
When deciding between bare pipe and helically wound coils, several factors should be considered, including the product to be heated, fouling potential, heat load, ambient temperature, personal preference, and budget. Our team is here to guide you in selecting the best coil for your needs.
Benefits of Bare Pipe Tank Coils:
- Bare coils are ideal for heating highly viscous products, especially in cases where fouling could be a concern.
- Stainless steel bare tank coils are suitable for use in food, beverage, and other sanitary industries.
- For lighter heating duties, bare pipe coils typically offer a more cost-effective solution.
Benefits of Helically Wound Finned Tank Coils:
- Finned coils are highly efficient, providing up to 12 times more surface area than bare pipe coils.
- The increased surface area leads to better heat transfer, meaning less pipe is needed to heat the tank—saving both time and money on installation.
- Finned tank coils are particularly efficient for larger heating duties, where their enhanced performance really shines.
No matter which type you choose, rest assured that all our coils are designed and built with a focus on quality and long-term durability.
