The successful candidate for this role will be responsible for creating approval and shop fabrication drawings for heat exchangers and various process equipment using SolidWorks, including providing comprehensive views and dimensions essential for manufacturing. They will analyze prints and specifications to craft equipment designs that align with client requirements and industry codes. They will conduct code calculations using specialized software according to ASME Section VIII and generate a Bill of Materials for procurement. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in drafting techniques, engineering terminology, mechanical aptitude, and basic mathematics.

Education & Experience:
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in mechanical design, engineering technology, or relevant technical experience.
  • SolidWorks experience is preferred.
  • Experience designing according to ASME Section VIII is a plus.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Uses SolidWorks CAD software for creating and revising production drawings, including detail and assembly drawings.
  • Generates final sketches, verifying part dimensions, materials, and relationships within the structure or project.
  • Sketches initial machine layouts, calculating angles, weights, dimensions, and other relevant parameters.
  • Applies knowledge of machinery, engineering principles, mathematics, and physical sciences to produce drawings.
  • Prepares ASME Code Calculations per Section VIII Division 1.
  • Prepares data reports to be reviewed and registered with the National Board.
  • Maintains an organized file system for production drawings and CAD files.
  • Works with sales, quality, engineering, and manufacturing departments regarding new and revised prints.
Skills Required:
  • Strong leadership skills, including time management, organization, and communication.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, Excel, and Adobe.
  • Committed to problem-solving and continual learning.
  • Ability to communicate and work well with others in a spirit of cooperation and teamwork.
